mycar Tyre & Auto Service in Australia

Am I the only one overcharged for a car service?

My brother, a retired car mechanic, maintains my car in a mint condition. I went to MyCar in Sydney for a car rego check. They sprayed old engine oil all over my engine and "recommended" a $800 service, to change all gaskets. Needless to say, a simple engine wash demonstrated no oil leak after 2 months.

My sister went to another mycar service to change tires. They "strongly recommended" replacing some cracked control arms and bushes, not mentioning that they were changed a year ago by our brother. He could not find any new cracks.

Last year my friend's son went for a rego check. They failed his car for "an imminent shock absorbers failure" (quoted $900). His Ford service mechanic could not find any issues with any shock absorber and passed his Registration check. He is still driving with the same shock absorbers.

I do not plan to visit any mycar "service" any more.

Contacting stores

What a complicated, convoluted phone system. Why not just put the individual stores phone number up instead of an overseas call centre. Press this, press that... I could not get through. I wanted new tyres for my wifes BMW. I bought new tyres off Broadbeach store for my BMW. Anyway, I gave up purchased tyres off Bob Jane. You must lose a lot of business this way.
