Centrelink Fortitude Valley

I telephoned the general number centre-link number provided on the website to seek details of the opening hours for the centre-link office at Fortitude Valley, because it may be closed for Christmas to New Year.

I originally registered in February 2019, but only received negative advice regarding employment, study and training options to me, so I applied for numerous jobs throughout the year and lived on my superannuation savings. However, I did not get any positions, so I applied on 19 December 2019 for assistance. I sought to attend the office with a printed copy of my financial transactions today (that is within the 14 day business period). However, today I did not receive any options to speak to an operator, rather was referred to several options related to centre-link services impacted by the governments budget measures. I am unhappy with the lack of any genuine service provided by centre-link - I had the exact same experience when I first registered in February 2019. No inter-active human services provided on-line by the Department of Human Services (DHS). I will now travel to the Fortitude Valley office in the hope it is open.

I am a professional member of the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) - and used my community engagement skills as an environmental planner for many years. DHS fails in every way to meet any of the engagement principles recognised internationally - DHS needs to have people on-line who can help their clients.
