Would you like to have school zone POI alerts in your GPS device?
There are over 10000 school zones currently listed in Australia. Most are in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. Average driver will drive through school zone at least once every 5 minutes. Do you really need alerts that often? Are you aware that your GPS device loaded with the school zone waypoints would alert you even if you drive outside school hours, during public holidays?
School zones are marked with signs and pavement markings with special speed limits posted, often with the effective hours marked on the signs. Some school zones also have blinking lights. Motorists must yield to pedestrians on all turns and when pedestrians are in a marked crosswalk.
Only selected devices, like GPS enabled Navman PIN 300, PIN 570, GPS enabled Dell Axim or HP can load all available school zones. The worse case scenario with the other GPS devices and software is that it would be choked with all available POI data loaded into your device. It may stop working and may need frequent reboots.
