I registered this morning.
I have logged in this afternoon.
Selected POI for the United Kingdom
Selected Road Safety
Then select UK Speed Cameras All-in-one
Then on the next page I select the filter UK POI and then click the download button.

I am then presented a long list of GPS devices and formats.
I select Garmin POI CSV (I have been told this is the right format for my Nissan Connect). Upon clicking the Garmin POI CSV link I am taken to a page that just shows
"Download format: GPS POI", clicking this link takes me straight back to the long list of GPS Devices.

Now I keep going around in circles and no actually finding a link that will down load anything. Please help

I think you've got the last bit wrong.

When you get to the download page, don't click on any filter; just click on the Download POI" button (just below the camera icon) That takes you to a page of various makes/formats.

I then click on the 8th option "Garmin GPX (proximity alert, phone dial, etc)"

Hope that helps.

Goto main site http://www.gps-data-team.com/
From right hand side select United Kingdom from GPS POI Updates
I am presented with a page listing POI Categories and I choose Road Safety
I am then presented with a page listing various Camera POI's and I choose UK Speed Cameras
I am then presented with the UK Speed Camera page
There is a download POI file button, a Filter dropdown and a Find box
I now ignore the Filter dropdown and just press the download POI file button
I am now presented with a long list of GPS devices and formats. there is alos a Filter dropdown box above this list.
I ingore the filter dropdown and just click on (as suggested) the Garmin GPX file.
The url for that file is shown as http://www.gps-data-team.com/poi/united_kingdom/safety/index.php?Camera-UK.gpx&sid=free_poi_files&format=GPX&file=Camera-UK
I click that url and I am taken to a page that just shows "Download format: GPS POI", the GPS POI has a url pointing to http://www.gps-data-team.com/poidownloads.php
I click that url and I am taken to the list of GPS Device and formats (as above), though looking carefully at this list shows that this time none of the formats has clickable links, it is just a text page.

Not sure what to do now

I have tried in Firefox and even IE and also on 3 other PC's in the house. I all get the same thing.

OK, I have done the following as before, expect I went through the individual formats and this is what happens.

Garmin POI BMP - File downloaded
Garmin POI CSV - Taken to Download Format: GPS POI page and
Garmin POI GPX - Taken to Download Format: GPS POI page and
Garmin MP3 - File downloaded
Garmin WAV - File downloaded
Garmin upload - Taken to Download Format: GPS POI page and
Garmin POI - Taken to Download Format: GPS POI page and
Garmin GPX - Taken to Download Format: GPS POI page and

I even tried the Navman files and got
Navman POI BMP - File downloaded
Navman POI CSV - Taken to Download Format: GPS POI page and
Navman POI WAV - File downloaded

Then tried TomTom
TomTom POI BMP - File downloaded
TomTom POI OV2 - Taken to Download Format: GPS POI page and
TomTom POI (Custom) - Taken to Download Format: GPS POI page and
TomTom POI (Large Custom Icon) - File downloaded
TomTom OGG - File downloaded

So it appear that the Audio file and graphic icon files etc can be downloaded but any actual data files just get boiunced to the "Download Format: GPS POI page"

I have just installed a File Downloader incase it was the browser having problems but this too downloads the audio/graphic files fine but any data files like CSV it just downloads a the html "Download Format: GPS POI" page

I have tried other POI categories like resturants etc and the same thing happens. Audio and Grpahics files download but the data files like CSV, OV2 etc just keep pointing to this "Download Format: GPS POI" page

I have tried this now on all my house PC's (3 of which are only a week old and running Win7 therefore and still virutally vanilla installations)

I have also disabled the Spyware/Adblock filters and even my DNS server (re-adjusted DNS to use OpenDNS) but the same keeps happening.

Any ideas from anyone or even from the people who run this site and this is quite perplexing. I am a IT network manager and this is stumping me.

Thanks

I have finally tracked the problem down and can now download the CSV files.

The problem was solved by me looking into all my DNS traffic, even though I had stopped my DNS server responding to DNS requests and got it to just forward the requests onto OpenDNS, the cache file still had the original data cached and was thus returning these DNS results first, I cleared my DNS cache and then tried downloading a CSV file and it works, tried the OV2 as well and this downloaded as well.

So, for anyone else who may have the same problem this is what you need to look for.

On data files served by www.gps-data-team.com , the download script used by the site includes running a script from Google to track what is being download (GoogleSyndication and Google Analytics). On the audio and graphics files the download scripts does not go through (GoogleSyndication and Google Analytics) and link directly to the files.

Now if you use certain software that blocks tracking sites from tracking you (in my case I had a tracking blacklist plugin for my DNS server) then when you come to download the CSV and OV2 files then these downloads are blocked by the www.gps-data-team.com download script as in my case the DNS requests for GoogleSyndication and Google Analytics was being return as 127.0.0.1 ie block.

So, if you are having trouble, then see if you can ping googlesyndication.com and google-analytics.com and if you get back a reply other than 0.0.0.0 or 127.0.0.1 then you know if you are blocking this tracking domains.

Of course this means that you can either allow google to track your every move you do on any web site or you just allow for gps-team downloads then then reblock google in your software.

It all depends if you want to be tracked by google?

Hope this helps to other who experienced this problem as searching these forums show a few people had this problem but no solution was ever presented.

Good to hear you tracked it down, and very informative post re the cause.

I occasionally get blocked by a message "you must have cookies allowed" in the browser. Have checked settings in browser and Firewall etc and have never been able to trace the cause as it seems to go away after I use Firefox instead of IE. Weird things happen...
