Nuvi 855 voice defaults to Jill American English after last firmware upgrade. Anyone has the same problem? Garmin told me to do hard reboot but it didn't work.
Finally! I was starting to think I was the only one on the planet with this issue. However, I am using a Nuvi 750 but have the exact same issue. I will change the voice setting to Lee and save the setting. His voice will then operate correctly and sometimes continue to do so after a couple power-off's and on's. Then maybe a time or two later all of a sudden Jill is back!
I also did the hard reboot and the keyboard "reset" and the problem always returns. Or perhaps I should say Jill always returns.
My unit didn't always do this, it started several months ago and it might have shown up after the last firmware update. - I am not sure, as I did a firmware update followed by a map update early in the year.
Bottom line, I have not found a fix - perhaps someone else will chime in?
Anyway thanks for posting, now I know I am not alone!
Have you tried to delete all the voices that you no longer need ? I removed all voices bar the one I have decided is the clearest, stops you fiddling around with settings
I have not tried that yet, I did already think of that as a possible solution. I even thought I would try renaming the files - changing the file name for Lee to Jill and see if that may fool it into what I want.
Last week in the effort at making more room on the internal memory I did delete all the languages that I will never need. That freed up almost a half-Gb. Additionally, I thought perhaps the extra free space might solve the "voice-change" issue but no such luck.
At least the problem isn't really that big of a issue - Jill is a pretty loud and clear voice, it's just that I can't get my way!
Thanks for the idea, I will give it a try sometime shortly.
I have a Nuvi 855 too but mine tends to often revert to Emily - British English. I select Lee - Australian English on the way to work but when I start up to return home at the end of the day I am often geeted by Emily!
I'm glad to hear that someone else is experiencing a similar problem with their Nuvi 855.
