I have a TomTom one and I use it every day. I am a truck driver and useing my Tom Tom saves me a lot of time. The only thing I don't like about it is it doesn't work to good for trucks. It doesnt tell you where low bridges are and doesn't tell you where u can go or can't go.

Are there any GPS units that provide this kind of data for a truck driver?

Have a look at United Kingdom / Transportation

There are Low Clearance POI files there.

I would be inclined to ask other truckies in your area what they use and if applicable where they go to get that info rather than a general site which would be a stab in the dark.
You can find low bridges here: http://www.gps-data-team.com/poi/_transportation/

You can download Low Bridges depending on the area you are driving.

I am a US Trucker. I use the TomTom and Delorme together. I have downloaded POI's from the POI site and placed them in my Delorme software along with adding them to my TomTom. Their are a large number of "Low Clearance", "Dangerous Train Crossing" POI's available along with the usual rest areas, truck stops, weigh stations and so forth also available for download.

I started with the TomTom ONE and graduated to the larger screen XL. I have tried other GPS units but the TomTom is by far the best. Better than the expensive Trucker GPS's available. Though I do wish TomTom would make Truckers version for the US like they did for the UK.

The main reasons I prefer the TomTom over others is the ability to add custom POI's and also I can create a specific route in Delorme and then put that route onto my TomTom from the computer. Other GPS's are very limited when it comes to creating specific routes or you can get a limited ability to do so at an additional price.

Such a possibility is the TomTom 7000th If you upload the low bridges POI you will have only a warning but will navigate that way

Remember that as a truck driver a specific truck tomtom will be a tax write off...
