I'm currently in the market for a GPS. I want something basic, ideally under $250. I'd like spoken street names and up to date maps but I don't think there's anything else I require.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated! |

There's a couple of units that have spoken street name features. Two are:
* Garmin nuvi 350 Portable GPS
* TomTom ONE XL-S
I think the Garmin is the cheaper of the two. It depends on what other features you are looking for in the unit.

| Stick with one of the brand names. I had a Navigon, it work very well, but support was the worst and map updates were ever worst. We now have 2 Garmins and love them, one is 3 years old and still works like a champ.

| The latest Garmins also have Google built in to provide up to date information - very cool.

I'd go for a Garmin, they have good mapping and support.

| Love Garmin but don't buy a 760, its a shocker. Don't know if the 765 is better but of all the many units Ive had the 760 is the worst ...
