Hi There,
The FM Trafic service in Canada isn't stable. I own Nuvi 765T, and the Traffic icon vanished for the past 3 weeks! it came back since 2 days!.
I'm wondering if any other users in Canada or the US faced the same issue?
Thx. |

Hi, I own a Garmin GPS 765T with free life subscription and wrote an email to the support at Garmin to know about FM Traffic in Canada and here is the answer:
Thank you for contacting Garmin International. I will do my best to help you.
Unfortunately, the free traffic subscription that came with your unit provides traffic for Toronto only. If you need additional assistance, please reply to this email or you can call 800-800-1020 anytime from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm CST, M-F.
With Best Regards,

I also have the same issue. I live in the west where this service is not available yet I paid for it as part of the unit. They should let you know before you buy what to expect. Does anyone know it the MSN service works in the west? Would I need to purchase a new receiver for it?
It would be very nice to have that service while in a hurry trying to negotiate traffic!

MSN service does work in Calgary (where I live), but truffic information is not supported. I am pretty sure you can get traffic in Vancouver.

| Thanks for your reply. Does anyone know if I would need to change the receiver that came with the 760 to receive the MSN signals?

Traffic is no-go in Winnipeg, but I used my 885t in Vancouver. It works there.

| Mine seemed to work well when I was visiting friends in Toronto ... unsure what would happen if I left a major metropolitan area

| I live in Montréal where the service started 2 weeks ago. But it stay the same message for all week and change only each Monday. I don't know if I need to buy a subscription. I use the Garmin 765T.

NOTE: FM Traffic has limited coverage in Canada. Traffic services available only in select cities.
Real Time Traffic (RTT) bulletin as of January 8, 2008. "We are broadcasting RDS-TMC data in Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal. Canadian coverage is Mon-Fri 5a to 7p. PLEASE NOTE: Montreal coverage is via a tower to the south, and the internal antenna in a portable navigation device is likely not sufficient to receive coverage. We continue to seek network expansion to fix this issue."
Think this answers it.
