How to add poi to Kenwood dnx7320 with built in Garmin
Hi
I'm new to GPS land and have purchased a all in one unit from Kenwwod.
It has bluetooth, reverse camera and a built in Garmin gps unit.
I would like to know how to add POI to the unit. The instruction manual with the unit is very basic.
Also witch file type do you use?
Any feed back would be helpfull.
Cheers
Your Kenwood uses Garmin software so you will need to get a copy of Garmin POI loader to transfer POI's to your unit. The files you need are CSV and when you run POI loader this will create a file called poi.gpi which your Kenwood will be able to use.
Thanks for the info.
Do I load the files to the sd card provided with the unit or do i need to put the files on another SD card to load them?
When the files are loaded are they saved to the unit or does it read off the SD card?
Cheers
Don't load the POI files to the SD card that came with the Kenwood unit. Put them onto another card the files will be saved onto the tv so once you have done that put your Kenwood card back in he unit.
Hi
I think the Kenwood units (like the 7390) all save the data (poi.gpi) to internal memory. They check the size and checksum of the poi.gpi file on the SD card when the unit is started (booted), if its different the new one is loaded over the top of the one in in ternal memeory. Thats why each time you "add" a POI you have to add to the exiting database of POI's and recreate the POI.GPI file.
