GPS: TomTom GO 720

I bought a "manufacturer refurbished" TomTom GO 720 via eBay Australia a couple of months ago. Subsequent conversations with TomTom Australia confirmed that there is no warranty coverage for my unit in Australia.

It would appear that the seller has been privately importing refurb TomToms from the US and selling them in Australia with an SD carded added with an Australian map.

Is there any way that I can find out if that map is a legitimate purchase from TomTom Australia? Or a cracked (ie illegal) version?

Normally if the SD card is original it should have a tomtom sticker on it. If it is just an regular SD card, it is highly likely it is a copied version.
