The TomTom disk icon will appear to the desktop when the device is attached to the computer. The icons for the POI that you have downloaded will also appear on the desktop. Double-click the TT icon to open it and drag the POI files from the desktop on to the "Australia" icon to install them.
A variation on other Mac advice previously given.
